Ashes to go

Ashes to Go is a new take on an ancient tradition of the church that marks the start of the season of Lent. Lent is the 40 days before Easter during which people in the early church prepared for baptism and forgiveness, kind of a spring cleaning for the soul. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Season of Lent. Lent is the 40 day season of fasting and penitence in preparation for Christ’s resurrection at Easter. At this service, we receive the imposition of ashes on our forehead in the shape of the cross together with the words: Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
