Good News
In this life, we will have many troubles. These troubles can weigh us down, discourage us, and make us truly despair for life and hope and a future. Our biggest trouble though is that we have sinned and rejected our holy and righteous God. Because the eternal God is eternally just, that means that our great trouble doesn't end in this life; it follows us into the next. Our sin separates us from God in this life now and for eternity in Hell.
But there is good news! Sinners like you and me can find grace and mercy, forgiveness and redemption, hope and a future. God the Father so loved the world that he sent his Son (Jesus) to live a perfect life for his imperfect people. God the Son gave his life as a ransom for many—his sacrifice paying for their sins. He was resurrected from the dead three days later, showing that this salvation was effective. The Spirit of God applies the redemption of Christ Jesus to all those who turn from their sin and trust in him for their salvation.
Every man and woman, boy and girl who forsake their sins to follow Jesus receives his salvation and security. They will still have troubles in this life, but they will also have hope for this life and the life to come. They are united to Christ now and will be forever more upon his return and their resurrection.
Soli Deo gloria!
